In a packed Palaverde, Numia Vero Volley Milano beats Prosecco DOC A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano 3-1 and extends the series. Panthers still ahead 2-1 but who, pushed by a very hot crowd, are unable to contain a Milan at full speed. Egonu MVP with 34 points, for the Panthers Haak stands out with 27 points. The focus now shifts to Game 4: appointment on Wednesday 22 April at 20.30, we return to the Allianz Cloud in Milan for another act of a series that still has pages to write.

""

In the Palaverde show nothing and no one is missing. Godmother of the cup is the boxer Irma Testa, bronze medallist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the lightweight category, the voice of Irene Guglielmi still sings the anthem. In the intervals between sets and during the time-out, the audience does not fail to be entertained by the cowboy of Old Wild West with his T-shirt shooter, Eudora Violinist’s violin and Sisal’s emoji cam. Before the match, the season’s top scorer Isabelle Haak is awarded as “gunslinger” of the year by Marco De Giusti, CEO of Gruppo Cigierre/Old Wild West.

""

Coach Daniele Santarelli chooses the basic sextet, the one that allowed him to go 2-0 up in the final series: captain Wolosz in the direction, Haak opposite, Gabi and Zhu spikers, Fahr and Chirichella central, De Gennaro free. Coach Stefano Lavarini also confirms his standard 6+1: Bosio, Egonu, Lanier, Piva, Danesi, Kurtagic, libero Fersino play from the start.

""

Gabi stops the inertia of a Milan that had started with the strong foot (1-3), Haak scores the first break point of the Panthers (7 points with 58% in attack for the Swede in the first set) and Bosio with the block restores the distance (6-9). Coach Santarelli shakes the Panthers with a time-out and Prosecco DOC returns to contact (10-11), with Piva Numia escapes on 11-15. Wolosz sounds the charge by blocking (13-15), Egonu has the right aim with the parallel (14-18), after a high-speed exchange Gabi leans on the hands of the wall (17-20). Daalderop and Adigwe are the new solutions for serve and second line, but Prosecco DOC fails to grab a square Milan in the partial (20-25).

""

""

Start of the second set in the sign of Fahr with the block and the first half (2-1), Piva remains poisonous from place 4 and the contest soon returns to balance (5-5). Kurtagic finds the measures in the front line (6-8), Daalderop is precious in defense and allows Gabi to light up in attack, Fahr makes Palaverde explode with the block (11-9). Chirichella does the same shortly after and is the most sought after by Wolosz in this phase (16-14, 4 point blocks in the second for Prosecco DOC), in the arm wrestling in which Haak and Egonu end up on the cover the Swede scores three fundamental break points, propitiated by Adigwe’s full-arm serve (22-17). It is the knockout blow in the partial, a mistake by Milan delivers the 1-1.

""

""

Fahr starts on the right foot (4 points with 100% in attack), the first shot in the third set is of Vero Volley with Egonu and Bosio (7-10), after a couple of errors in attack coach Santarelli runs for cover by calling the interruption (10-14). So the Panthers light up, Chirichella leads the limelight and Prosecco DOC comes back down between fast and an ace from the center (15-15), Akimova impacts in zero time on serve and Adigwe responds with the same coin, placing two vital aces (20-20). Scognamillo for the service in the moment of absolute balance (23-23), the Panthers cancel 5 set points and give up only to the bitter end (28-30).

""

""

At the start of the fourth set, Prosecco DOC chases a Milan that with Bosio’s block goes to 4-7, then Lanier lights up and the Panthers have to start again at 6-11. Sillah enters and unlocks (8-12), coach Santarelli makes the initial diagonal catch his breath involving Ewert and Adigwe (9-13). The blue opposite unlocks (11-15), Lanier continues to hit and coach Santarelli calls a time-out (12-18): Fahr is not there and baptizes two first halves, the same shot that Chirichella sends back to the sender when the opponents try (16-19). De Gennaro saves by flying and Haak puts down the -2 (18-20). Milan leads with confidence, Gabi cancels a match point, but in the end the guests extend and close on 3-1.
