PROSECCO DOC IMOCO WINS THE 1ST CITY OF PORDENONE TROPHY, BEATING PANATHINAIKOS IN THE FINAL

Closing day today at the PalaCrisafulli with the finals of the 1st City of Pordenone Tournament which in front of a large audience (1600 spectators for the final, 2700 in total in the two Friulian days) ended in style two days of very useful matches for coach Santarelli and the technical staff of the other three participants in view of the new season that is just around the corner.

The Prosecco DOC A.Carraro Imoco has already shown good things, despite the very recent arrivals of the veterans from the World Cup, the yellow-blue team has given space in the two days to the entire squad available, with all the Panthers available to coach Santarelli who have thus been able to test the condition and put fuel in the legs in view of the championship.
In the first match of the day valid for 3rd place, the Marche derby between the newly promoted Balducci Macerata of the old acquaintance of the Palaverde Valerio Lionetti and the Megabox Vallefoglia which lined up the former Omoruyi, De Bortoli and Butigan (in addition to the sports director Alessio Simone for years assistant coach in yellow-blue), the team of coach Pistola prevailed which made use of greater lineage and experience even if the young opponents in each set showed good things in perspective. 3-0 the final with a triple 25-20 for Omoruyi and her companions.

Great applause between the final for the bronze and the one for the 1/2 place for the award ceremony of the Municipality of Pordenone (which supported and sponsored the tournament) which wanted to pay homage in the person of the Councilor for Sport Elena Ceolin to the Italian winners of the World Championship, the two Panthers Moki De Gennaro and Sarah Fahr and the couple of Vallefoglia Loveth Omoruyi and Gaia Giovannini. Then it’s time for the final with the challenge between Prosecco DOC A.Carraro Imoco and Panathinaikos of Athens, coached by coach Chiappini, another former in Conegliano in 2015.

Yellow-blue sextet for the final with coach Santarelli who deploys Wolosz-Haak, Chirichella-Fahr, Sillah-Gabi, libero De Gennaro, in the Pana in sextet the former Croatian Panther Martina Samadan in the center, with Chatziefstratiadou, on the dribble the former Vero Volley Kostantinodou, opposite Bennett, spikers White and Lampkowska, libero Antonakaki.

Rocket start of the Panthers (4-0) who immediately make things clear and then continue without looking back with the new spiker Sillah who shows all her explosiveness (6 points in the set) and together with Bella Haak and the defenses of the back line makes life very difficult for the Athenians, always forced to chase. 25-14. The second set in the initial phase was more balanced, Sillah and Gabi break again with their winning shots after a series of spectacular defenses by De Gennaro and her teammates. Having taken the advantage, Prosecco DOC A.Carraro Imoco no longer stops and grinds out the game and show with applause-snatching defenses, blocks and the combinations of captain Wolosz who punctually unmarks his extraordinary arsenal, the lion’s share is done by Haak with 8 points in the partial. The advantage expands and the second set also flows smoothly with the Panthers who close with ease 25-16.

Third set with a more balanced trend, Panathinaikos multiplies its forces in front of a Prosecco DOC Imoco Conegliano already at a very high level, and the match becomes more heated to the satisfaction of the fans who packed the PalaCrisafulli. At the beginning (1-4) Pana gives some shivers to the Italian champions who immediately equalize with Haak’s aces and then there is balance until the end of the partial. At 19-18 they take off with Moki De Gennaro who wants to close and armors the defense. The rest is done by its forwards and the Panthers fly towards the 25- and the victory in the 1st City of Pordenone Tournament. Next outing on Friday and Saturday in the Courmayeur Cup in Val d’Aosta, the last outing before the debut in the championship on October 6 on the “Monday night” that will open the A1 championship in Busto Arsizio.
