Rules

The Serie A1 Regular Season will start on Sunday 21 October 2012 and will close on Saturday 6 April 2013, while the Scudetto Play Offs will start on 10 April and end on 22 May 2013 with the eventual Game 5 of the Final. The Serie A2 Regular Season, on the other hand, will start on Sunday 7 October 2012 and will end on Sunday 21 April 2013.

ChampionshipThe twelve participating teams play a single round-robin with home and away matches, which will be followed by the Scudetto Play Offs. The top six teams classified in the Regular Season enter the quarter-finals. The teams ranked from 7th to 10th place play the Round of 16 to access the Quarterfinals of the Scudetto Play Offs. The 11^ and 12^ classified will be relegated directly to A2.

Suspensions and midweek
shiftsThe championship will not stop during the Christmas period in which a round is scheduled for Wednesday 26 December 2012, while it will not be played on Sunday 30 December 2012 and will resume on Sunday 6 January 2013. There are no midweek rounds, while three suspensions are scheduled: January 13, 2013 (second leg of the A1 Italian Cup Quarterfinals), January 27, 2013 (All Star Game) and March 16-17, 2013, when the Final Four of the A1 Italian Cup will be played.
