The week of training camp ends with a good match for the Panthers who, after a week of work at high altitude in the splendid hospitality of Alleghe and Caprile, play their first official friendly match today on the field of Sedico (BL), opponent of Trentino Volley, a Serie A2 team. Enthusiasm skyrockets and PalaRicolt packed for the “first” of the season of Prosecco DOC Imoco, even if largely incomplete. Mora and the trainer Da Lozzo this week have put the “seniors” and young Imoco Next Gen aggregated to the first team under pressure, essential to complete the group still without the athletes involved in the European Championships: Fahr and Adigwe in today’s semifinals with the Azzurre, as well as coach Santarelli with Turkey; Haak, Sillah and Cekulaev rested after being eliminated in recent days from the continental review; Manfredini who will return after the days off after silver at the Mediterranean; Gabi who plays the South Americans with Brazil.
After the performance of the national anthem by the Municipal Band of Sedico, coach Mora for this debut has to leave Zhu (muscle resentment) and captain Wolosz (shoulder discomfort) to rest, struggling with seasonal ailments after these days of “loading”, and deploys against the fierce Trentino the first sextet of the year with the Chinese Yao Di on the dribble, Enescu opposite, spikers Anna Piovesan and Gordon, middle blockers Folie and Airhienbuwa, libero Moki De Gennaro. Very balanced first set, with Trento always aggressive with Pamio and Sismondi, and the Panthers in the run-in who already show good flashes especially in the combinations of experience in the center between Yao Di and Folie, in the presence of Piovesan on the wall and in the good things from the second line of the jewel Enescu. In the final set, however, De Gennaro and her teammates assert their greater technical rate and close 25-23 with the “pantherines” in evidence: Enescu’s blow and Airhienbuwa’s block to close the partial. Best scorers with 4 points each Folie, Piovesan and Enescu.
In the second set Prosecco DOC A.Carraro start ahead with the class of Moki De Gennaro in defense and the Chinese Yao Di in direction who unleashes the yellow-blue guns. The young Panthers suffer a bit from the return of Trento with Pamio and the newly entered Colombo, but after a few mistakes (from 14-11 to 15-17), Airhienbuwa and Anna Piovesan close the gap for Conegliano. Head to head as in the first set between the two teams until the final rush which this time is decided by Pamio and Colombo who close for 22-25, 1-1.

The fatigue of the preparation (the yellow-blues also trained this morning) do not allow a particular continuity to coach Mora’s team, which however manages the advantage well with Yao Di who orchestrates the operations well and after the entry of Giorgia Orso closes the set 25-20 despite the stubbornness of the Trentino, never tame and threatening until the end.
Fourth set with Alessia Manda on the dribble and the entry into the band of the young Slovak Pernicova. Immediately the points in attack and serving of Piovesan dig the furrow (5-1), De Gennaro and her teammates take off. The coaches draw on their benches to give space to their squads, but the Italian champions remain firm in command (13-9). Itas holds up and becomes threatening with an excellent Susio, obtaining the hook (12-12) with Colombo and Iob also in evidence. The explosive Folie and the power of Enescu bring Prosecco DOC A.Carraro Imoco back ahead, which resists the proud return of Itas and thus closes the first friendly of the season, 25-23 with Enescu’s final blow, amidst the applause of the many fans present.
At the end of the game, greetings and awards with the mayor of Alleghe Danilo De Toni and the mayor of Sedico Christian Roldo, a crowd bath with autographs and selfies for the more than 1000 people who arrived in Sedico and dinner at the Al Rustico restaurant in Agordo, before returning to the base for two well-deserved days of rest after an important week of work and relaxation in the mountains.
