Prosecco DOC on the piece in Courmayeur: the Panthers beat Igor Gorgonzola Novara 3-0 in the semifinal of the Courmayeur Cup, tomorrow at 6 pm De Gennaro and her teammates face the winner of the match between Savino del Bene Scandicci and Numia Vero Volley Milano in the final (live TV on Rai Sport, streaming on Rai Play, DAZN and YouTube of Lega Volley Femminile).
In the match at the Courmayeur Sport Center the Panthers arrive without captain Asia Wolosz, Coach Daniele Santarelli starts with Di on the dribble and Haak opposite, Zhu and Sillah are the bands, Manfredini and Fahr in the center, De Gennaro free. On the Novara side, the starting six reads Carraro, Grobelna, Herbots, Tolok, Bonifacio, Bartolini and Moro free.
Zhu starts off sharply, Haak sets out on his own and Manfredini comes into the match blocking for the 6-1 with which the Panthers open the first set. The young Italian repeats herself twice (11-2, 4 of the 7 yellow-blue blocks of the first set bear the signature of the class of 2006) , Prosecco DOC resists on the return of the mosquitoes, Haak increases the advantage to +11, then Di involves Fahr in the first half (22-11). Haak closes on a perfect lift by De Gennaro (8 centers with 89% in the first set for the Swede), 25-12 is worth 1-0.
Sillah gains confidence at the beginning of the second set, Haak continues on his rhythm and Manfredini unloads the first ace, Di fixes the 10-1 with the second touch. Novara gets back on track thanks to Alsmeier and Bartolini (13-10), on the first corner of the match coach Santarelli calls a time-out, then the Panthers regain confidence with Manfredini (17-11): Tolok impacts with the high ball, the newly-entered Manda raises Fahr the 18-15, Haak turns two balls from the second line into gold, Sillah flays the hands of the wall for the final 25-21 (5 points for the Slovenian, the best Panther of the second set).
In the third set Gabi debuts, De Gennaro builds another axis with Haak, but it is Novara who leads (2-6). Gabi blocks twice in a row and slips the ace, so the Panthers mend (9-9); Grobelna engages in the duel with Haak (11-12), it is the Swede who puts the point of the first advantage, the “twin” Gabi that of the first break (17-15, the carioca makes 7 in a single partial). But it’s not over, Haak has to chase away the Novara comeback with the first ace (22-20), then realizes the second yellow-blue matchpoint (25-22, Yao Di leads the attack with 50% of shots per point).
