Prosecco DOC A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano beats Eurotek Laica UYBA 3-0 with a 5-star performance in Game-2 of the quarter-finals of the Scudetto play-offs, closing the series against the butterflies at the E-Work Arena on 2-0. Thirteen is the number of the evening: the yellow-blues conquer the thirteenth Scudetto semifinal in Serie A1 Tigotà, a goal that the Panthers have always achieved in their history; 13 is also the number of team blocks that is enough for coach Santarelli’s girls to control the game from head to bottom. For the fourth consecutive time, Prosecco DOC is playing for a place in the Scudetto finals against Igor Gorgonzola Novara, a series that will start on the weekend of 14 and 15 March.

The MVP goes again to Isabelle Haak, already awarded as best on the field in Game-1, 18 points scored with 65% in attack and 3 blocks; captain Wolosz leads a maneuver with more than half of the shots per point (47 out of 85, around 55% efficiency), while De Gennaro has 100% positive in all receptions of his match. On the Busto Arsizio side, the only one in double figures is the eternal Gennari (10), one of the former players of the match.

For the match, coach Daniele Santarelli finds Cristina Chirichella in his starting six: she plays in the center with Fahr, captain Wolosz and Haak make up the diagonal, Sillah and Zhu are the spikers, De Gennaro is the libero. The injured Munarini and Gabi are not called up, who remains in Conegliano to treat the blow to the ribs suffered in Race-1. On the other side, coach Barbolini chooses Seki on the dribble, Obossa opposite, Battista and Gennari places 4, Eckl and Torcolacci in the center and Pelloni free.
The Panthers raise the wall three times to take off in the first set:Sillah, Chirichella (4 points in the first set on the return to the court) and Wolosz (3-8) in a row. Sillah sets the table with the overturned bagher a great point for Zhu, Torcolacci lights up, but Prosecco DOC extends again with a cut shot by Haak (9-17). After two aces in a row by Obossa, the yellow-blues do not get upset, Haak scores with robbery and blocks (15-24), Zhu writes the 0-1 at the second chance (16-25).

After an interminable exchange, Haak gets away with a dribble from a standstill that rains down on the line (0-3), then from serve he scratches and causes an easy return for Zhu (4-8). After some errors in attack, the Panthers relaunch themselves in the second set with Sillah (11-15), Scognamillo and Daalderop debut reinforcing the second line, in the middle of Diouf’s hands out there are 4 shots of the yellow-blue central players engaged by captain Wolosz (17-24, 3 centers in the set for Fahr with 100% in attack and 1 block): Haak capitalizes immediately, 0-2 at 17-25.

Yellow-blue monologue at the start of the third set, Zhu and Chirichella block (1-6, Chinese with 5 tokens in the set), Wolosz imitates her teammates and serves Zhu who invents the 2-9. The Panthers loosen up more and more, Fahr and Chirichella block the way to UYBA and Haak is academic with the lob (8-16). Ewert and Adigwe enter for the definitive change of pace (9-18), Scognamillo and Daalderop also close on the court: Meme scratches (10-22), the match point comes on an opponent’s error that is worth 15-25.

The focus now goes on the CEV Champions League: on Wednesday 11 March the Panthers will be away in Turkey for the first leg of the quarter-finals at the TVF Ziraat Bankkart Volleyball Hall against Ankara Zeren Spor. The second leg will be played 7 days later, Wednesday 18 March at 20.30 at the Palaverde: info and tickets already available online on the Vivaticket.com website.
