A stellar first set, two partials of resilience and quality: Prosecco DOC A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano rules Laica Cioccolato UYBA 3-0 and repeats the success of the first day of LVF A1 Fineco. It is the evening of Raffa Folie, returning to the court at the Palaverde after 4 years: the center is the MVP of the match, top scorer for the Panthers Isabelle Haak thanks to 18 points, 2 aces (her winning serve at the end) and 4 blocks.
Coach Daniele Santarelli chooses Wolosz on the dribble, Haak opposite, Gabi and Zhu bands, Fahr and Folie in the center, De Gennaro free. On the other side, coach Barbolini deploys Seki, Wada, Battista, Grozer, Torcolacci, Munarini and Pelloni free. Before the kick-off, triple award ceremony at Prosecco DOC: coach Santarelli receives the award of best coach of the last championship, Linda Manfredini that of best U21 and Isabelle Haak that of best player of the past LVF A1 Fineco.
Perfect start of the Prosecco DOC: in the 5-0 that leads to the first guest time-out there are two blocks by Haak and two winning attacks by Gabi. But Busto rolls up his sleeves and grinds, it takes a block by Folie to close an endless exchange, then Zhu imitates her immediately after (10-5, there will be even 9 team blocks in the first set). On the UYBA side, Spaziano and Malual enter, but the Panthers turn to +10 and beyond (19-8): Wolosz and her teammates overwhelming in the final, 6-0 partial to close the first set already at 25-9.
The Prosecco DOC resets in view of the second set: Fahr is drawn twice by Wolosz and Torcolacci responds (10-10), Grozer unlocks the advantage for UYBA (12-13), it is a break point and a block by Gabi to give a new acceleration to the yellow-blues (16-13, the green-and-gold is the best scorer of the Panthers who bring 6 forwards in multiple marking in the second set). Ovation for a save by De Gennaro but Wada blocks (19-16), Manfredini serving and Parlangeli are the grafts from the bench, Di and Adigwe detect the diagonal at the end, coach Santarelli resorts to the first time-out at 23-20. Di gets up great for Folie, after a mistake by Busto in attack the Panthers celebrate the 2-0 (25-21).
One-two in the opening of the third set by Fahr and Haak on the block for Prosecco DOC, Torcolacci draws the ace of the butterfly advantage (4-5). Haak does the same by clubbing from 9 meters, Munarini blocks twice and Busto holds on to the break advantage (9-11). It is a service turn by Fahr to break the inertia of Laica Cioccolato (14-12, 9 points with 61% offensive for the center), but Grozer has not lost his polish (15-18): Piovesan and Manfredini enter to serve, Adigwe unlocks and fixes the parity at 19. Pulsating final set, after Fahr’s defense it is Zhu who gives the first match point (8 scratches with 2 blocks for the Chinese superstar), after a ping-pong of chances Haak closes it with the ace (27-25).
The Panthers will return to the field on Wednesday at 20.30 at the Pala Gianni Asti in Turin on the occasion of the advance of the 4th day of LVF A1 Fineco on the field of the Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76.
