Second place at Barcolana 56 for the Maxi Prosecco Doc Shockwave3, helmed by Mitja Kosmina. A result obtained after an extraordinary start that saw her in the lead and in a head to head for second place at the first mark with Woodpecker, while in the final race she never
gave up chasing the first place arriving at the finish line with just over 2 from rival Arca. “We had a good race – is the comment of Claudio Demartis, owner with Pompeo Tria of Prosecco DOC Shockwave3 – trying from the start to attack Arca and for a while we managed to stay ahead of him thanks to an excellent start. So we are satisfied that we were at least able to challenge his crew. Congratulations to everyone, my guys, the winners and all the boats that made this celebration possible.” The Prosecco Doc Shockwave3 sporting project fully reflects the philosophy of the Prosecco DOC Consortium, at its thirteenth presence at the Barcolana and once again confirmed in the role of Gold Sponsor and Official Sparkling Wine of the world’s most popular sailing event, this year present with proposals and activations that characterized the entire calendar from October 4 to 13, the highlight day of the great Trieste event. Privileged were the stations dedicated to Prosecco DOC and the many fans of sea and bubbles. Starting with the very central Prosecco DOC Lounge raised on the Rive in front of Piazza Unità near the Royal Staircase to move on to the Prosecco Terrace at Pier The Roof, an exclusive location where numerous guests were able to live the “Prosecco Experience” enjoying Prosecco DOC bubbles in purity or expertly mixed with other ingredients, in the company of deejay sets, making it even more exciting to follow the regatta live from maxi screens.
As many as 35 labels were selected for the occasion, supplied by 18 member wineries interested in accompanying the Consortium in Trieste as partners of the event and related side events. Such as Barcolana Seachef, a tantalizing competition that saw 10 starred chefs compete, first at sea and then at the stoves of the Portopiccolo Pavillion, accompanied by Veneto-Friuli bubbles right from the aperitif of the gourmet dinner set up for more than 200 lucky guests. On Saturday, October 12, ‘Tina and Milo,’ official Mascots of Milano Cortina 2026, enlivened Piazza Unità d’Italia, attracting the attention of those present: a moment dedicated to selfies and fun for the two tender ermines at the end of a day aboard the Prosecco Doc Shockwave3. On the eve of the great regatta and as part of the Italy of the Games program, The Organizing Committee of the upcoming Winter Games, of which Prosecco Doc is Sparkling Wine Sponsor, brought Olympic and Paralympic values to Trieste, entertaining the public thanks to the friendliness and liveliness of the two Mascots. “We are delighted to have hosted the Mascots of the upcoming 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, on board the Super Maxi PROSECCO DOC Shockwave 3,” comments Giancarlo Guidolin, President of the Consortium for the Protection of Prosecco DOC, “where we welcomed illustrious personalities, such as Marina Lubian bearer of the invincible Prosecco DOC Imoco Conegliano volleyball gold medalist at the recent Paris Olympics, and Matteo Parenzan, Paralympic table tennis gold medalist.
Tina and Milo, these cute stoats, recall important values that DOC Prosecco and Barcolana share: passion, commitment, care for the environment and solidarity.
The latter also understood as inclusivity, since, in continuity with previous editions, this year we again competed by joining the “Sailing without Barriers” project aboard the Prosecco DOC Flying Dragon, a boat driven by extraordinarily good parathletes. Among them were Davide Di Maria, world champion of the Paralympic class, and Flavio Gaudiello, paracyclist from Obiettivo3, a project founded by Alex Zanardi.”
“Italy of the Games is the Milano Cortina 2026 signature program that wants to celebrate those who love and promote sports, making them participants in the organization itself.
An initiative that allows the whole country to give a message of belonging, through the sharing of Olympic and Paralympic values and sports activity. The Organizing Committee of Milano Cortina 2026 is happy that Tina and Milo, the official Mascots of the next Winter Games, can participate in the Barcolana, which has made the city of Trieste the European capital of sailing.” The words of Nevio Devidé, Chief Revenue Officer of Milano Cortina 2026.
Italy of the Games is the program with which Milano Cortina 2026, in collaboration with CONI and CIP, wants to celebrate throughout the country the presence of the 2026 Italian Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
An initiative that embraces the whole of Italy by supporting sports events organized on the territory by public bodies and sports associations that promote the values of sport, Olympism and Paralympism, inclusion, sustainability and sports practice. A program to bring the magic of the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics to life outside the venues, a network full of energy, a legacy for the future of the entire national community.
